The Split the Sea series is inspired by the Biblical story of Exodus.
In particular I am interested in the path through the sea that allows
the people to traverse the raging waters on dry land. According to
Biblical commentary, walking through the sea can be a metaphor for
holding/balancing opposing views in the mind simultaneously. It is
this idea that intrigues me. I believe this is the true spiritual
task of our times—to be able to countenance opposing views without
losing one’s balance—keeping the sides separate yet together.
